KUBOTA EFFICIENCY GOOD FOR THE CUSTOMER ... AND THE OPERATOR

A Kubota U55-4 AB excavator is proving to be a huge asset for a Canterbury earthmoving company that is heavily focused on efficiency and quality.

Carlton and Sarah Everest purchased HMR Transport and Excavation in April last year. Since then, they have expanded the business’s original focus on residential ground works to include a larger proportion of rural work.

“We have been doing more rural excavation work in the last six  months,” Carlton says.

“This work includes site works, track maintenance and general excavation works. We have been doing a lot of work around the bays on Banks Peninsula and greater Canterbury.”

With Sarah in the office doing all the administration, Carlton works as a sole operator on their Kubota U55-4, which they bought brand new after they purchased the business.

Carlton says the machine is a huge asset to their business and enables him to put longer hours in the seat, since everything is within comfortable, easy reach.

“I think the Kubota is the leader in the small digger market for comfort, reliability and power. I can be sitting in the cab 8-10 hours a day and it is extremely comfortable. All the controls are just right, compared to other machines I have operated.

The other feature I love about the Kubota is the floating hydraulic angle blade coupled with the auto track speed. A lot of other brands don’t have this option and it helps a lot with track work, levelling and foundation work. It is really handy and fast.”

Carlton runs the Kubota with an Attach2 rotary hitch and a hydraulic thumb, which he says is a great combination with the angle blade.

“I believe in getting the machine set up right with the right attachments so you can tackle any job with ease,” he says.

“It just makes everything efficient and I believe the Kubota U55-4 is the perfect setup for our varied work. The customers are getting a better job. We do it as efficiently as possible and leave them with a top-quality job.”
