Effective from 1 April 2019, Norwood will no longer import Lemken agricultural machinery to New Zealand.

The decision by Norwood to relinquish the Lemken brand, for which they have been the New Zealand distributor for more than 20 years has formed part of a wider customer strategy, aimed at ensuring Norwood will continue to be best placed to meet the needs of their agricultural customers.

“As part of our primary purpose to Keep Farmers Moving, Norwood are continually striving to deliver the best possible customer service and support for the products we sell” says Tim Myers, Norwood CEO.

“That commitment includes our ability to build and maintain brand expertise to support our products, and to ensure we have the commercial and operational support from those brands to deliver on our customer commitment. With the range of products available from many suppliers continuing to expand, and with many products becoming ever more technologically advanced, building and maintaining product expertise has become a critical business challenge for all modern agricultural dealerships.”

“Unfortunately, and despite the very strong relationship that Norwood has enjoyed with Lemken, we have had to make this decision on the basis that we felt our ability to offer best in class support and service would be compromised as a consequence of recent changes Lemken themselves have made to their supply model in the ANZ market. We respect their decision, and we wish Lemken all the very best.”

“Our commitment also means ensuring we are appropriately represented in the marketplace to support customers with quality product offerings across the multiple agricultural and horticultural sectors within New Zealand. Releasing the Lemken brand will enable Norwood to consolidate its brand offering and also allow for a smooth introduction of the upcoming New Holland plough range later in 2019” adds Tim.

What this means:

  • Effective from 1 April 2019, Norwood will no longer source new Lemken product from Germany
  • Norwood will continue retail sales of their existing Lemken stock
  • All Norwood stock sold, or to be sold will continue to receive the full 12-month manufacturer warranty support
  • Norwood will continue to offer parts, service, warranty and technical support for all Lemken product either sold or still to be sold by Norwood while any Norwood sold machine remains under the manufacturer warranty period – this includes access to Lemken spare parts, warranty and technical support teams
