The Location:

The Manawatu is centrally located with only a 2.5-hour drive to Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Lake Taupo and the ski fields. With a warm climate, the Manawatu has a lot to offer. Whether you're into biking. walking, hunting, hiking, fishing or swimming, the nearby tracks, ranges, rivers and beaches are pretty much at your doorstep. There is an excellent choice of schools (including an Agricultural College) as well as UCOL and Massey University.  Theatre, music and sport are well supported and if you are a motor sport enthusiast Manfeild Park and Stockcars draw large crowds.  The main agriculture industry centres around dairy, sheep. beef, deer and cropping with nearby rural town Feilding hosting regular stock sales in the midst of town at its impressive sale yards which has the largest throughput of stock in the southern hemisphere.  Overall, it’s a pretty good spot to live!

The role - in a fabulous new Dealership and big Workshop!

Norwood Manawatu recently moved into their new and very smart new premises on the outskirts of Palmerston North. They are currently recruiting for a Qualified Diesel Mechanic with recent experience working on tractors and agricultural machinery to fill the role of Service Technician.  You would become part of our busy Norwood Manawatu workshop team which has a large and varied customer base.   They are on the hunt for someone with heaps of drive, ambition, a positive outlook, a great sense of humour and excellent communication skills; a genuine passion for agricultural machinery and a fortitude to do the job right and provide exceptional service and solutions to our customers.  

This role provides you with a great opportunity to service, diagnose, and repair a wide range of machinery such as tractors, balers, harvesters, cultivators, seeders, diggers and more. Working on world class brands such as New Holland, Kubota, Vaderstad, Horsch and Pichon to name a few. You will be fully supported by our dedicated technical support team, ongoing training, and parts availability as Norwood has the biggest agricultural Parts Warehouse in New Zealand..

These are the key factors we see to succeeding in this role:

  • Recent experience with the diagnosis, service and repair of tractors and agricultural / construction machinery
  • Knowledge in diesel engine structure and fuel systems
  • Knowledge with hydraulic systems and electronic systems
  • Computer skills including the use of OEM diagnostic software
  • Relevant trade qualification and/or experience
  • Excellent work ethic - determined to deliver both a timely and high standard of service and repairs to our customers
