Hawke's Bay A & P Society are once again the only hosts of  the New Zealand Royal A & P Show.

This is the most significant and important livestock show in the country and brings competitors from all over New Zealand to Hawke's Bay.

The A & P Show is a massive event that truly brings rural life to the city like no other event can!  Providing an opportunity for friends and families to rub shoulders with real farmers who are passionate about their animals, their land and its waterways!

The Rangiora Show showcases the best of rural North Canterbury and attracts competitors and visitors from across our region and the South Island. The Northern A & P Association has been organising the show for more than 150 years, with the aim of bringing town and country together to celebrate our local rural traditions.

The two-day event features some of Canterbury’s best equestrian and rural sporting talent, including show jumping and show hunter events, shearing, wood chopping, dance competitions and dog trials. Show goers can also visit the livestock competition entries from our top breeders, including sheep, cattle, poultry, alpacas and more.

An abundance of food, craft and trade stalls will be on-site, plus vintage machinery, and a range of entertainment and activities for kids.

The Marlborough A & P Show is held in early November each year and is a celebration of rural and urban communities in Marlborough getting together for entertainment, competitions, and displays.
Horses, farm animals large and small, sheep shearing, home based competitions for handcrafts, photography, and baking, also school handcraft competitions and displays, are a drawcard for all. A feature of the Show is the Animal Nursery with a wonderful variety of smaller animals, able to be enjoyed close at hand by young and old.

As well there are many Trade sites with a range of products and services, and Food and Display sites for everyone to enjoy.

The Bay of Islands P & I Show is the oldest agricultural Show in New Zealand with the first Show being held in New Zealand in The Bay of Islands in 1842.  In its early days the Show rotated to different towns in the region but is now based at Waimate North in picturesque grounds, behind the Waimate North Mission House.  The Show attracts around 7,000 visitors each year.

The Show is hosted by the Canterbury A&P Association, a charity whose aim is to promote the importance of farming, produce and innovation to New Zealand as a whole. The Association’s annual event is one of New Zealand’s oldest A&P Shows and remains a traditional agricultural Show at heart. The decision was taken by the Association in 2017 to rebrand the Show, to ensure its longevity and continued support to the communities at its core for many more years to come.

The Egmont A & P Show is an annual event held on the third weekend in November, one of south Taranaki’s major events.

Every year there has been an array of different entertainment at the show including motorcycle displays, performing ponies and dogs, children’s clown entertainment, wood chopping competitions, Dog trials, live musical, a huge small animal tent, dancing and many activities for children in Kidzone hosted by NZME. The side shows as always are a major attraction for the younger generation.

Stratford A & P Show

For over 100 years Taranaki folk of all ages have flocked to the Stratford A&P showgrounds under the mountain to enjoy the annual show and its wide range of attractions.

In the early days, dressed up the nines, they walked, rode on horseback and arrived in gigs and drays for one of the big events on the Taranaki calendar. Farmers, townsfolk and kids of all ages were drawn to a social event that drew people by their thousands.

With the advent of the motorcar numbers increased and today, despite the huge range of other social activities on offer, the show still pulls in huge crowds.

An Agricultural and Pastoral Show including horses, sheep, cattle, steer riding, shearing, dog and sheep dog trails.

Also shed classes including wool, woodcraft, vegetables and fruit, home industries, cookery, flowers, handcraft, photography, and art.

Pony and sheep dog trail judging gets the event under way followed by the sheep, cattle and most of the shed sections at 9.30am.

The show encompasses everything that is rural and brings it to the township of Matamata along with its traditional values.

On site visitors will be treated to everything on show from the best in cattle and sheep plus the competitive equestrian riders.

For lovers of the battle between sheep and man there is the traditional sheepdog trial which is always a fascinating battle of mind and wills.

But it's not just about herding sheep, the racing stripes are brought out for the ever popular sheep racing.
