Väderstad TopDown with E-services wins Farm Machine 2024 award

Väderstad’s TopDown with E-services is the winner of the Farm Machine 2024 award in the tillage category.

The Farm Machine of the Year award is voted by a jury from 16 agricultural magazines from all over Europe and was announced at the Agritechnica exhibition in Hannover, Germany this week.

“Everyone at Väderstad who has been involved in the TopDown project is extremely proud of this achievement. This award recognises that TopDown and Opus with E‑services are essential tools for farmers looking to optimise their tillage operations,” says Wolfram Hastolz, Director Tillage Product Management at Väderstad.

The introduction of E-Services on TopDown 400-700 and Opus 400-700 allows the machines to use prescription maps to control the machine settings automatically and on the go. This means the farmer can program how the individual working elements behave for each specific field’s characteristics. The discs, tines, leveller and packer can be programmed to achieve the best results considering the soil type or other characteristics in different areas of each field.

With the TopDown with E-services, Väderstad is applying the same thinking used in its variable rate seed application and fertiliser application technology to tillage, with an ‘as much as necessary, as little as possible’ approach. Benefits include diesel savings and improved soil health, increased working speeds and a reduction in wear on the machinery.

TopDown and Opus with E-services are available to order now, with the first machines expected in New Zealand late 2024.
