KUHN is expanding its range of disc mowers with two new vertically folding rear mounted models, the GMD 3515 and GMD 4015.
These machines, with working widths of 3.50m and 3.95m, are specially designed for farms strongly focused on forage production.
“When combined with a front mower, the GMD 1015 series machines will increase work output which will be appreciated where forage production is a major part of the farm’s operation,” says Peter Manderson, New Zealand Brand Manager for KUHN.
The 125° vertical folding ensures a centre of gravity centred behind the tractor during transport. The folding mechanism helps reduce overall dimensions and rear overhang. This configuration provides safety during transport, especially when the machine is hitched in combination with a front mower.
The mowing unit is attached to the chassis at its centre, allowing efficient ground following, even in hilly conditions. At the headland, the mowing unit is raised hydraulically by a simple action on a valve, offering significant clearance of at least 350mm on the first disc for passing over the swath.
The hydraulic ground pressure adjustment of the mowing unit reduces the cutter bar ground pressure, which preserves the plant cover depending on the soil’s level of humidity.

The exclusive LIFT-CONTROL system combines this hydraulic ground pressure reduction with a NON-STOP safety. In the event of an obstacle, the mowing unit shifts rearwards, resulting in reduced ground pressure and allows the mower to clear the obstacle. Once the obstacle has been passed, the machine automatically repositions itself in the working position.

These two models are equipped with the OPTIDISC ELITE cutter bar, renowned for its robustness and cutting quality in all conditions. This cutter bar is easy to use, requires no maintenance, and benefits from the FAST-FIT quick knife attachment system.

The new KUHN GMD 3515 and GMD 4015 disc mowers are available to order now and will arrive in New Zealand for the 2025/2026 season.
