Väderstad welcomes Extract to the product portfolio

Väderstad is pleased to announce the launch of Extract, a new product family of inter-row cultivators added to Väderstad’s tillage product range.

This is the final phase of Väderstad’s acquisition of Danish Company Thyregod’s line of inter-row cultivators and the accompanying intellectual property rights.

Väderstad Extract will initially be sold in two models: the trailed Extract L 16-48 and the mounted Extract V 8-36. Depending on model, both Extract L and Extract V will be available with row spacing of 225, 250, 450, 500 and 750mm.

“Extract inter-row cultivators are a perfect match to the range of Tempo maize and beet planters the arrival of the new Proceed concept in 2025, and for sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly farming,” says Greg Moore, Imported Brand Manager for Norwood. “This is a new product segment for us, and one where we see potential in the market.”

With uncertainty regarding pesticide and herbicide regulation, there is demand for a machine that can perform mechanical weed control between plant rows. Väderstad Extract has a high main frame together with a patented solution for lifting the row units to avoid damaging the plants, while enabling inter-row cultivation for a longer period in terms of plant height. Extract L also has a unique frame solution, where it can hold two frames into one main frame, increasing the efficiency and saving a pass for the farmer.

“From speaking with our Tempo farmers and looking into the future, we see a shift to more mechanical solutions for weed control,” says Greg. “Väderstad can now offer farmers a complete solution. Extract is a perfect match to our Tempo planter, and it’s also optimised to fit the new Proceed concept.”

From mid-2024, Extract inter-row cultivators will be included in the Väderstad range of farm machinery in full Väderstad livery: red, yellow, and black. The introduction will start with Extract V 8-36, and Extract L 16-48 is planned to follow.

Extract will be available for delivery in New Zealand from mid-2025.
